Week 9 Post

The Sapphire Rainmakers got behind early and couldn't comeback to win the game. Due to a Notre Dame like schedule Sapphire was not prepared to make adjustments on the fly. The team still had a chance to win the game however the defense which got the team back in the game couldn't stop a long 3rd down conversion. I'll be nice and individual players won't be named. Shout out to Demetrius Mosley for taping the game so that some of our more optimistic players have a better idea of their abilities...

The Giants imploded as they lost to the Chargers. Conservative play calling (a requirement when your QB's name is Eli) won't get it done in the NFL. Phillip Rivers rebounded from throwing a late INT to throw the game winning TD to Emeka's boy VJ. LT is done, the Chargers need to draft a workhorse. Phillip Rivers is definitely better than Eli, the only reason Eli has a ring and has been to the Pro Bowl is because he was on the Superbowl team. He didn't lead the team to the win.

The Colts managed to beat the Texans however their offense had to settle for FGs on more than one occasion. With multiple injuries to their secondary they are going to have to score more points to keep winning. The Texans are quite for real, they could make the playoffs or finish 8-8 for the third straight year.

The Saints started out slow again but were able to come back again. It was a divisional game and the Panthers have improved but the Saints don't look as impressive as they did a few weeks ago. There first loss could be soon.

The Bengals dominated the Ravens to get to 6-2. The Ravens fell to 4-4. Trey and Emeka need to stop calling Carson a bum. Esteban is having a great season, but he has lost a fumble in both games against the Ravens. The Bengals will make the playoffs, not sure if they win the AFC North. I still think the Ravens have an outside shot at making the playoffs.

The Miami Dolphins continued running their JV offense and got beat by the Patriots.

The Bucs, wearing their peach uniforms, stunned the Packers in Tampa. Josh Freeman threw 3 TDs in his first start. The Packers O Line resembled the Sapphire Rainmakers'

The Lions had a chance to beat the Seahawks but Matthew Stafford threw 5 INTs... Why isn't Daunte Culpepper throwing the ball to Megatron?

The Falcons beat the Redskins, no surprise there. Laron Landry made a late hit on Matt Ryan and DeAngelo Hall ends up barking at his former teammates. Mike Smith ends up in his face like he wants to go and now the league is investigating.

The Bears lost to the Cardinals who decided to act like an NFL team this week. Anquan Boldin apparently wasn't told he wasn't playing, he warmed up and when he returned to his locker his pads were gone. A couple of unnamed players say Whisenhunt tried to tell Q but he wasn't listening. Whatever, you can't trust the Cardinals.

The 49ers lost to the Titans who have now won 2 straight after returning to VY as the starter. Say what you want about him... (Ace) but the guy wins football games. It's only 2 games but this is a good start. Kinda surprised this isn't more of a story. ESPN was all over VY when he got benched and they would be if he was losing games...What is going on with the 49ers? They have lost 4 straight to fall to 3-5.

The Steelers beat the Broncos, didn't watch the game. Kyle Orton threw 3 INTs including a pick 6. The Broncos are now 6-2 and looking like the Broncos I was expecting to see 4 weeks ago. They could make the playoffs but they won't make any noise.

NFC Playoffs
Saints
Vikings
Eagles
Cardinals

Atlanta, Dallas, Giants and Packers are in the running

AFC Playoffs
Colts
Bengals
Chargers
Patriots
Steelers

Ravens, Broncos, Texans are all in the hunt

Larry Johnson got cut by the Chiefs. The Chargers could use him, but they won't sign them. Where will he land? Clinton Portis is hurt and the Redskins could use a jolt...

  1. I laughed so hard at the Sapphire Rainmakers comment...

    As far as comments:
    - Chargers need to grow some balls and let Darren Sproles try to be the workhorse while LT is the backup scat back. The season isn't lost yet, but you have to optimize the use of your resources. Pay dude 7M, he should be a Hoss. This will help you realize if you need to draft, trade or sign a stud RB.
    - Esteban playing like he was bribing the ref is one of the best highlights i've seen this year.
    - Aaron Rodgers doesn't deserve the lack of protection he's getting. If i was him, I'd make my lineman look at the Blind Side movie coming out in theaters soon.
    - Mr. Glass is surprised that someone wants to be cautious with his fragile tail? Dude was a walking dead the past 2 games, take off and get healthy. He was a decoy 2 weeks ago, walking dead last week.
    - If VY wins games, does all Alex Smith do is lose them?

    Playoffs (playoffs???)
NFC: Saints, Vikings, Cards, Cowboys, Eagles, Falcons
AFC: Colts, Bengals, Broncos, Pats, Ravens, Chargers. If Owen Daniels wasn't out for the year, Texans would be in the playoffs.

  2. How do you have a week 8 recap without mentioning the Cowboys (6-2) beating the Eagles (5-3)? And then go on to say the the Eagles are a playoff lock and the Cowboys are only in the running? I know Chase is mad that the "Romo-friendly" Cowboys did the right thing by getting rid of the washed-up cancer TO. But, give the team some props for going into Philly and taking down the hated Eagles in primetime. It deserves at least a mention in the week 8 recap... no?

Regarding the game, your boy Andy Reid is a fool. Two bad challenges caused the Eagles to have no timeouts down the stretch... then they go for a 56 yard field goal with 3 mins left down 7. He must have had Akers on his fantasy team or something. Anyway, predictable, the Cowboys get the ball back, eats some clock on the legs of Mariano Rivera, errr Marion Barber and seal the win with a Romo-to-Witten first down. Solid win for the Boys. Roy Williams made plays, Austin made a huge play, Romo is playing really good football right now, and the D stepped up to stop FatNabb. Next up is the Packers. And yes, FatNabb got tired down the stretch again... maybe TO had a point.

Tell Chase to break out his Cowboys gear and get back on the bandwagon. I'm sure Emeka has a Cowboys hat in his collection too.

    HOW 'BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!!

  3. Sorry Ace, I did not intentionally leave the Cowboys v Eagles game out. The Boys deserve credit, they went in to Philly where they played like a bunch of *****es at the end of last season and won. Any Reid shot his team in the foot with horrible management of their timeouts. However I can't sign off on the Cowboys making the playoffs yet. We're getting closer to December, that month that Tony Romo wishes was in the offseason.

Reports are that Matthew Stafford and Megatron are feuding up in Detroit. I'm with Calvin Johnson as his stats are horrible and he would definitely fair better with Daunte Culpepper throwing him the ball.

  4. the sapphire tape is awesome... some folks get to see that they are not as swift as they think they are (WHY DDOES THE BIGGEST GUY ON THE TEAM THINK HE IS THE 3RD FASTEST).... some people need to be humbled ... i will let you guess whom that is... funny people saying the d needs work but the d gave you the ball twice on the 10... another story...

the boys looked good... i think they will make the playoffs.. too much balance. the eagles i worry about since they hate running the ball and are trying to send their best running back to the bills (VICK).

larry johnson is without a team.. crazy because of his talent but not at all surprising.

laughing at the thought of benching LT to be the backup scat back to sproles... that's a oxymoron... sproles is clearly a backup scat back in this league... chargers are dumb. they unlike myself (being in denial) SAW LT's declien but ignored it. they could ahve addressed this easy in the draft but were scared to distance LT... not to mention letting turner go.

megatron needs to blast starscream (stafford). stafford wants to the be the leader but like starscream is not ready....

the humble one and i have been screaming to play VY for weeks... if they can run the wildcat with VY for 10 times in one game they will up their scoring total by 6 easy... VY is probably the only guy that can reasonably throw and read coverage out of teh formation and plus you will have the threat of chris johnson getting the rock....
